Summary of the Day - 10/2/2012

Summary of the Day
October 2, 2012

  • Reading/Spelling/Writing: We did a group activity for the story "Herold's New Start" where we got to make posters to summarize the story.
  • Social Studies: We worked on the "Map of My Life" project. For this assignment the students need to pick 10 important places that they can draw on a map that they create. We will work on this everyday in class this week and then they will have the weekend to finish it at home if they need to. The project is due Monday.
  • 8th grade US History: CONSTITION!!! We're starting to dig deap and take apart our nations constitution in hopes to completely consume and understand everything it says! You have a worksheet due tomorrow.
  • Homeroom time: On Friday we finished our first class-book (during this time of the day I read a chapter book aloud to them) so half of the class got to take AR tests on that book. Scores were looking great! The other half got to check out a library book.

I hope you enjoyed our day together as much as I did!

Summary of the Day - 10/1/2012

Summary of theDay:
October 1, 2012

  • Reading/Spelling/Writing: We started reading "Harold's New Start". We only got about half way through because of some interruptions. Please finish at home tonight. We went over our spelling words and read through our workbook unit together. Reminder that the workbook pages are due on Friday. They will get class work time for that on Wednesday.
  • Social Studies: We talked about maps and how we use them. We looked at several different maps and answered questions about them in groups. We got started on our "Map of My Life" project. For this assignment the students need to pick 10 important places that they can draw on a map that they create. We will work on this everyday in class this week and then they will have the weekend to finish it at home if they need to. The project is due Monday.
  • 8th grade US History: We spent the first 20 minutes of class correcting and discussing the homework assignment from last night. I was very impressed by all of your answers and really appreciated our discussion. Then we started talking about the constitution. No homework tonight... BUT... remember that any DC Trip papers you haven't turned in yet are to TOMORROW. Please don't be late.
  • Homeroom time: Yesterday we finished our first class-book (during this time of the day I read a chapter book aloud to them) so half of the class got to take AR tests on that book. Scores were looking great! The other half got to check out a library book. Tomorrow we will switch so that everyone gets to take the test and have library time.
Thanks for a great day!
